ADHD in the Family Tree: Understanding Its Genetic Roots
ADHD In the Family Tree is the foundation of everything The Society does. Rooted in the understanding that ADHD is hereditary and generational, this campaign recognizes that a single diagnosis rarely exists in isolation — it ripples through families, across generations, and into the communities where those families worship, work, and live. By helping families trace ADHD through their own story, we create the awareness, understanding, and connection that makes everything else possible — from support groups in local congregations to national advocacy on Capitol Hill. Every program The Society offers grows from this single, powerful truth: when one person is seen and understood, it opens the door for an entire family to find their way to support.
ADHD In The Family Tree: Understanding the Roots. A National Campaign
The Society for ADHD has launched “ADHD in the Family Tree: Understanding the Roots”, highlighting the hereditary nature of ADHD and the importance of awareness within families. This goal of this campaign is to help reduce stigma and foster conversations about ADHD in families; Promote early diagnosis and management; Provide resources and tools for families; Highlight equity in ADHD diagnosis and support; and strengthen community connections.
The "ADHD in the Family Tree: Understanding the Roots" Campaign will improve understanding of ADHD; Lead to earlier and more accurate diagnosis; Create an environment for better support of multi-generational families; Reduce stigma around ADHD; Empower communities with actionable tools and resources; Advance equity in ADHD awareness; Increase national dialogue on ADHD by addressing ADHD’s hereditary nature encouraging greater societal acceptance, better policy advocacy, and more widespread support for those affected.

American Academy of Pediatrics Virtual Course
Improving Care for ADHD: Strategies for Effective Communication and Collaboration among Clinicians, Families, and Schools
Tanya Murphy, CEO of The Society for ADHD, is one of several distinguished faculty members for the American Academy of Pediatrics (AAP) who collaborated to create this specialized course for pediatricians and other health care providers. This course equips participants with practical tips, knowledge, and resources to enhance communication and collaboration with schools, helping to better support families and children living with ADHD through more effective, coordinated care across home, school, and healthcare settings.

Embracing ADHD & Co-Occurring Conditions: A Path to Better Health & Awareness . Quarterly gatherings that bring together faith leaders, healthcare professionals, educators, and community members to explore the intersections of faith, mental health, and neurodiversity through honest dialogue and culturally grounded learning.

ADHD UnMasked Faith Based Support Groups
The ADHD UnMasked Faith-Based Support Groups are welcoming and inclusive spaces where individuals with ADHD and other forms of neurodivergence can grow in their faith while supporting one another. By bridging the gap between faith and science-backed, evidence-based strategies we foster understanding, acceptance, and appropriate management of ADHD within faith communities. Together, we explore how to embrace faith as our foundation, deepen our understanding of ADHD, and learn practical ways to support our daily lives. These groups exist to remove stigma, cultivate belonging, and create a supportive space where mental health is addressed with care, dignity, and love.
Different Not Broken Church Leader Training
The Society for ADHD and Co-Occurring Conditions offers the Different Not Broken Church Leader Training, a comprehensive program designed to equip church administrators, leaders, and lay members with the knowledge and practical tools needed to establish and implement ADHD UnMasked Support Groups within their congregations. Participants will gain a foundational understanding of ADHD and neurodivergence, learn evidence-informed strategies for supporting neurodivergent members, and receive structured guidance for launching and sustaining effective support groups. Upon completion of the training, The Society provides one year of ongoing technical support along with periodic training updates to ensure your team remains informed and equipped as best practices continue to evolve.
ADHD Unplugged: Candid Conversations
ADHD Unplugged: Candid Conversations is a podcast exploring ADHD and co-occurring conditions through the lenses of faith, culture, and lived experience. Hosted by Society founder and CEO Tanya Murphy, the show offers calm, honest conversations grounded in compassion, evidence-based insight, and faith. Featuring voices from individuals with ADHD, healthcare, education, wellness, creative fields, faith leadership, and advocacy, the podcast creates a welcoming space where science, story, and spirit meet.
The Mental Wellbeing Interfaith Alliance of the DMV
The Mental Wellbeing Interfaith Alliance is a collaborative network of faith communities, healthcare providers, educators, and families that supports individuals living with ADHD while providing important insight that helps guide the work of The Society.
Membership in the Interfaith Alliance is by invitation only, ensuring a thoughtfully curated group aligned with the mission and values of The Society.

ADHD UnMasked: Different Not Broken Conference
The first annual faith-informed ADHD conference in the country — bringing together faith leaders, healthcare providers, therapists, educators, nonprofits, and advocates to advance awareness, collaboration, and community impact. A landmark gathering where faith and care, tradition and science, and community and clinical support converge.



The DMV Faith & Mental Wellbeing Working Group
The DMV Faith & Mental Wellbeing Working Group unites faith communities, mental health professionals, educators, nonprofits, corporations, and community partners to strengthen mental wellbeing across the region. Rooted in the belief that mental health is essential to both human and spiritual flourishing, the Working Group advances education, advocacy, and access to affordable, culturally responsive, evidence-based care grounded in faith-informed understanding.
