Advocacy for Equity & Inclusion
At The Society for ADHD and Co-Occurring Conditions, advocacy is at the heart of everything we do. We work to dismantle the systemic barriers that prevent neurodivergent individuals — particularly those in faith-based and historically marginalized communities — from accessing the support, resources, and opportunities they deserve.
Our advocacy efforts are faith-informed and community-rooted, spanning education, healthcare, and public policy. We educate elected officials about the unique challenges faced by late-diagnosed and marginalized ADHD communities, equip individuals to become effective self-advocates, and collaborate with organizations to advance culturally conscious ADHD research and policy. We champion equitable accommodations in education and the workplace, challenge discriminatory practices in healthcare, and push for greater awareness and training among professionals who serve neurodivergent populations.
We believe the goal is not to "fix" neurodivergent individuals, it is to build systems, communities, and institutions that recognize their dignity, honor their strengths, and remove the barriers standing between them and a life where they can truly thrive. Through policy efforts, community-driven initiatives, and meaningful collaboration across sectors, The Society is committed to ensuring that every neurodivergent individual, regardless of race, income, or faith, has an equal seat at the table.
